Event Advising & Donor Stewardship

Founded in 1990, Susan Ulin Associates Ltd. [SUA] offered more than 23 years of effective professional fundraising expertise and event management to a wide range of not-for-profit agencies.  Ulin managed hundreds of events including tribute dinners, charity balls, movie premieres, theater benefits and auctions.  SUA successfully guided organizations of all sizes through all types of events ranging from small first-time efforts to large corporate dinners.  Events undertaken by the firm consistently met or surpassed their financial goals and generated an aggregate of more than $35 million annually, totaling over $800 million.

Ulin identified and recruited event leadership, both corporate and individual, with major gift potential.  She also developed fundraising opportunities, including sponsorships, which were maintained beyond the event.  Ulin fostered stewardship in the form of personalized cultivation and follow-up after the event as essential components of successful event fundraising.

Ulin has more than forty years of experience as a fundraising professional.  Prior to founding Susan Ulin Associates, she served for a decade as Director of Development at The Trinity School in New York and then as Centennial Campaign Director at the New York Botanical Garden.  In addition, Ulin served as a board member and then as vice president of The Board of The Trinity Episcopal School Corporation.

Ulin is a former member of the international board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  She has served the Association’s Greater New York Chapter as a board member, chapter president and chairman of Fundraising Day in New York.  She has lectured widely in the area of special events and has been recognized for her achievements at National Philanthropy Day.  In 2012 she received The Ralph Chamberlain Award of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  She currently serves on the Executive Committee of Women in Development, New York as Vice President for Programs 2013-2016.

Ulin graduated from Connecticut College and received an MS degree in guidance and counseling from the City College of New York.  She lives with her husband in New York City.
